Celebrating 10 Years of redShift Recruiting

This year marks a major milestone for redShift Recruiting — our 10-year anniversary.

RedShift Recruiting is proud to be celebrating 10 years in business! As we reflect on a decade of hard work, strong relationships, and shared success, we’re celebrating everything that brought us here — and looking forward to what’s ahead.

It all started with a friendship — two dads who met through their sons, connected over shared interests, and realized their skills were the perfect match for creating something bigger together. One had spent nearly two decades building a successful career in recruiting. The other was a tech leader and former CIO who’d founded his own software company. The idea took shape over lunch, sparked by a simple observation: companies deserve recruiters who truly understand the roles they’re filling. In 2015, that shared vision became a reality with the founding of redShift Recruiting.

This year, we proudly celebrate 10 years of growth, gratitude, and great hires. Whether you’re a job seeker, a hiring manager, or one of our long-time collaborators, thank you for being part of the redShift Recruiting story.

🚀 A Decade of Growth

We opened our doors in 2015 with a simple goal: to raise the bar for IT staffing in the Capital Region. With Ryan Thomas’s recruiting expertise and Dan Sterantino’s decades of hands-on technology experience, redShift was designed to offer something different — a staffing firm where both clients and candidates would feel understood, supported, and heard.

Back then, it was just the two of them and one recruiter, working out of a small office just outside of Albany, in Castleton-on-Hudson, NY. As the company grew, so did our space. We moved into a slightly larger suite in the same complex, and then, a few years later, into a freestanding building of our own just down the road.

That move marked a new chapter: expanded service offerings, a growing national client base, and a vibrant, close-knit team of recruiting professionals.

“Ten years went so fast,” says Ryan Thomas, redShift’s Co-Founder and EVP of Business Development. “Who knew that our boys' friendship and coaching them in CYO would lead to a business and a decade of success here in Albany? We have to thank our families, our employees, our clients, and our candidates. Without them, we couldn’t do it. A decade later, the mission still drives us; I’m proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about what’s ahead. In my 30 years in the industry, I’ve never seen a time when companies and candidates needed a trusted and reputable staffing firm more than they do now.”

Today, redShift fills roles across a wide range of industries — from IT, engineering, and accounting to manufacturing, office support, and beyond — and we continue to take on both local and nationwide searches for contract, contract-to-hire, temporary, and permanent hires.

💪 The People Behind the Placements

Our team is at the heart of everything we do.

From our most seasoned recruiters to our newest hires, each person here brings the “Heart, Smarts, and Hustle” that define our culture. We’re proud of the expertise and integrity our team brings to every conversation, every candidate interaction, and every client search.

“From the start, we’ve been deeply connected to the Capital Region’s tech and business communities,” says Co-founder and President Dan Sterantino. “RedShift is bigger than a staffing firm — it’s a network of people helping each other grow. That spirit is what has driven us through the past 10 years.”

We’re also proud to be a two-time winner of the Albany Business Review’s Best Places to Work award, a testament to the supportive, driven, and collaborative culture we’ve built together. Whether it’s launching new initiatives, supporting each other’s growth, or celebrating wins (big and small), redShift is more than a workplace — it’s a team.
